Step-by-step: How to create a blog in your web hosting account
To create a blog, you need to have your own web hosting account. If you have not registered for a web hosting account, read this article before continuing - Step-by-step: How to get your own web hosting account with a domain name.
Once you have registered for a web hosting account, you will get a Welcome email containing Control Panel URL address, login name and password.
You can create more than 1 blog within your web hosting account. Follow these steps to create a blog in your web hosting account:
1. Go to your web hosting Control Panel URL that can be found in your Welcome email.
Example: http://supremecenter55.com/members/
2. You will see a login screen as above. Login using your Username and Password.
3. Once logged in, you will see your web hosting administrator control panel as below.
4. Under “Web Tools” grouping/category, click on ”Elefante Free Scripts”. Refer to the image below.
5. You will see a list of “PHP Scripts List” under “Elefante Installer” tab. Click “Wordpress” under the “BLOG” category as show with red arrow in the image below.
6. Click on “Install WordPress 2.2.1″ as shown in the image below.
7. You will see “WordPress 2.2.1 Installation Wizard” screen pop up. In “Step 1″, click “Create a new database” as shown in the image below.
8. In “MySQL Databases” pop up screen, type the database name and password to be created. Then, click “Add SQL Database” button. Refer to the image below.
9. Close “MySQL Databases” pop up screen and go back to “WordPress 2.2.1 Installation Wizard” screen. Under “Step 1″, click on “Refresh database list” and you should see the database that you have just created. Make sure the new database is selected. Refer to the image below.
10. In “Step 2″, fill up all the fields. Use the image below as example. Once you have filled up all the fields, click “STEP 3: Install” button.
- Database prefix - Leave it as it is.
- Domain - Select your main domain name that you have registered with your hosting.
- Path - This is the subfolder name for your blog. Use a relevant name to your blog topic.
- Admin user - Type the administrator username that you want.
- Admin password - Type the administrator password that you want.
- Admin mail - Your email address where all the blog related emails will be sent to.
- Weblog title - This is the title for your blog. Use a relevant name to your blog title.
11. Once your blog is successfully created, you will see the new blog URL as in the image below.
The URL for the blog I’ve created now is http://all-that-you-need-to-know.com/
